Market challenges
Transforming the way we eat by going green and eating more frugally.
Today, global food production emits 17.3 gT (giga tons) eqCO2 of which 57% comes from meat products*. With the world's population set to rise from 7.5 to 10 billion by 2050, feeding humanity sustainably, in a way that is both healthy and economically viable will require a profound transformation of food production.
The development of a microalgae industry can contribute to this transformation by providing a complementary source of essential nutrients, or by substituting certain non-renewable ingredients. The challenge for the industry is to develop production capacity and reduce costs. CarbonWorks is committed to developing these industrial production tools.
